  Is The "American Dream" is over?

  one of the most distressing aspects of the state of the us economy is the decrease in social mobility.. it is much, much harder now than it used to be for americans to improve their circumstances.. in other words, if americans are born poor, they're overwhelmingly likely to stay poor.. similarly, if americans are born rich, they have a much better chance of staying rich than someone born poor or middle class.. no one minds inequality as long as one's station in life is a function of one's own decisions and effort.. when inequality becomes the luck of the draw, however, if becomes much more profoundly unfair.. america's social mobility is now not only one of the lowest in the country's history--it's one of the lowest in the first world.. if that doesn't change, the fundamental promise of america for the past 250 years will disappear.

  the country will no longer be a place in which you can control your economic destiny.

  What he said may be true, and I'm not faulting him for seeing that and making money, but he was in the top percentage of income earners.

  the blood issue is not a medical issue.. if blood transfusions were 100% guaranteed to be safe, jw's would still refuse them.. it is all about their interpretation of certain scriptures concerning blood.. you can make every reference known to medicine in mankinds history, and it doesn't make a bit of a difference.. it is a religious issue.. nightowl.

  A truly mind boggling experience

  i dated someone earlier tonight and she looks pretty good, she invited me over to her home.

  she has a very good salary(she has phd degree) but i do not understand why she chose to live in a white trash mobile home park.

  i asked her how long she is going to live there, she said she just signed 2 year lease last month.

  sometimes people with ordinary understandings and expectations encounter things outside their experience.. they deal with it and move on.

  they tell people and answer questions.. eventually, somebody explains it and the incident (and the story) goes underground.. .

  ......only to re-emerge.. if it is an unusual incident or report eventually there will be others who come along.
